A Message From IMBA's President: Amy Michalak
I am Amy Michalak, Senior Account Manager at Radian Guaranty, Inc. and I am very excited to serve as 2016 IMBA President.
Looking back over my career, IMBA has always been a part of my life. After graduating from college in 1991, I started in the mortgage business as a processor for NBD Mortgage Company. It was there that I met many people who were influential in my career including Former IMBA President Patty Warren. At her suggestion, I registered for the Mortgage Banking 101 class. The class was the foundation from which my career was built. From there I joined a series of committees, Young Mortgage Bankers (those were the days), Events, and Membership. Through those activities early on, I was able to make lasting connections with many members over the years, which has most definitely helped my career.
IMBA's mission is to provide information, educational resources and effective advocacy to help its members be profitable, ethical and prepared for future challenges. And because IMBA Is made up of many different companies and institutions, our goals are achieved collaboratively. The diversity of our membership is one of our key strengths. Along the way, through committee work, board participation, and throughout these executive roles, I have had a lot of support. I’d like to thank Nick Parisi, Carl Pietraszewski and Mike Czuba, all of whom have displayed outstanding presidential leadership and mentorship in these recent years, to Barbara Zajicek for her guidance and expertise, to my dear friends at First American Title for their support over the years, and of course – thank you, to my family at Radian. My Radian family has been very supportive of the work done through IMBA. I’d like to especially thank Lynn Koscher for her endless support and mentorship. Lynn, having served as a Former IMBA President, has mentored me and been so generous with her time so that I can succeed in my role at Radian and as an IMBA leader.
For more than ninety five years, the Illinois Mortgage Bankers Association has stood as the State’s premier mortgage banking trade association and it’s such an honor to be the President of this great organization.
We have an engaged, talented and committed Board of Directors. I look forward to working with them and with our membership to further the mission of IMBA. Thank you for your confidence and for such a rewarding opportunity. I look forward to a fantastic year.
